I am a Plans Examiner for an AHJ in California and we are having an internal debate regarding 2019 CPC 422.2 Separate Facilities, 2019 CPC Table 4-1, and the 2019 CBC Chapter 10. Your input would be greatly appreciated.
Exception 3, in business and mercantile occupancies with a total occupant load of 50 or less, only one restroom is required. Do you calculate the total occupant load using the OL factor from Table 4-1, or do you use the OL factor from Chapter 10 of the CBC, when determining if the occupancy requires two restrooms?
