I wouldn't worry about it. I'm sure they did calcs and the framing is good for hanging at least 2 plants! LOL!

RJJ, every time I see a picture posted on here of some crazy stuff, I think like you did! Surely I'll never see anything that bad!

Like on your post about "Will it Leak"? I haven't seen one yet but............just a matter of time!

You are going to run into more of those I bet since you started at a new AHJ!

I don't believe shade cloth over a some rafters makes a roof. It is still a mess but is it a roof?

ROOF ASSEMBLY. A system designed to provide weather protection and resistance to design loads. The system consists of a roof covering and roof deck or a single component serving as both the roof covering and the roof deck. A roof assembly includes the roof deck, vapor retarder, substrate or thermal barrier, insulation, vapor retarder and roof covering.

It's not a roof. They should not use treated wood above the plants; to prevent chemicals from invading the plants. You can see opening where the sun shines through.

It's playground equipment for plants. :)

The shade cloth will hold some snow, so it offers some weather protection and some resistance to design loads. I wonder if it's an awning or maybe a canopy.
