Ammunition Storage at new Police Station

Our office is designing a new police station and I am kind of in a quandary concerning the ammunition storage. Chapter 33 of the International Fire Code gives an exception to the requirements.

The possession, storage and use of small arms ammunition when packaged in accordance with DOTn packaging requirements. (I don’t know what DOTn Packaging requirements are?)

The use of explosive materials by federal, state and local regulatory, law enforcement and fire agencies acting in their official capacities.

I don’t want to get into explosion venting and all that stuff. Does anyone have any experience in this area?

Well ask the police how much on an average they intend to store, and that may resolve the problem, and check the quantity they say against chapter 33

dot I take means origianl container

Unless you are talking chicago or the like they normally do not have that much on hand

Thank you Mark for the definition. Thanks cda for the simplified answer. "Original container". That definition makes all the neurons in my brain fire in the correct order so the light above my head is illuminated.
