Just checking informal survey when you are walking a building

Do you

1 do a sampling of the rooms

2 do you do 100% of all rooms

3 if you do sampling do you start looking more, if you start seeing more problems

I do 100% of the rooms. Annual fire inspection permits are based on SF, so, typically it work out ok.

100% of the rooms and you leave no room for doubt. On a pressure test for a new system I will walk the rooms more than once.

Depends on several factors, inlcuding the time I have available, the occupancy classification, the type of construction, the presence of fire detection and/or protection systems, and my previous experience with the responsible party.

I don't physically walk into every cubicle and office, but I look into them from aisles, corridors, etc. If an office door is closed, I don't sweat it much. I focus more on maintenance of fire resistive assemblies, maintenance of fire protection systems, identification and availability of the means of egress, and the building's utility areas (equipment rooms, storage areas, etc.). Those things keep me plenty busy as it is . . .

Yea I really try to strive for 100% but probably get ....88.9% and as Permit said I really focus on similar areas based on occupancy classification.

I visited a 1.8 million sq. ft.hospital last week , the next day I looked at a 2.5 million sq. ft. office building. Today I was at a 1.5 million sq. ft. warehouse. SO you guys would look at EVERY sq. ft. of these buildings?? How long does that take??? I spent about 4-5 hours at each occupancy noted above.

I do 100% of the rooms, unless no access (then i just make a note of it in the inspection report)

When we do our large facilities like Distribution Centers 1-2 million s.f. we dedicate 3-4 days and separate the different buildings. I know when I'm done the dogs are dead tired. There are open spaces that I will look at much differently as I do other areas.

We have a 5 million sq. ft. mine that is in development, and will some day turn into industrial/commercial space. That will be finished in phases, and when it is done it will be the largest sprinkled "structure" we have in our county it will be probably 33 times bigger than anything else.
