The manufacturer of the brand of cement backer board used on a project specifies that coated screws be used in an 8 inch square pattern to secure the board.

Is there anything in the international code that specifies that this is required?

If the code specifies a screwing pattern and the manufacturer does too, the more restrictive applies. So if the code wanted 1-1/4" screws every 10" and the manufacturer wants 1-5/8" screws every 8" then you have to put the 1-5/8" screws in every 8".

Welcome

Normally follow the manufacture instructions

Where room and area in the room, and what do you want to use it for ?

I have a problem in a kitchen with some loose tiles. Instead of using screws every 8 inches per the manufacturers instructions, the installer used nails approximately every 12 inches. The job was overseen by a builder.

So is this a vertical wall??

What is the area in front of it used for?? cooking, storage, noting, other?
