attachments to underside of roof deck .

can anyone tell me where I can find any requirements for attachments to the underside of a roof deck ? I thought it was not permitted anywhere . I have a la fitness that is attaching there hvac trunks , suspended ceiling wires ect, to the underside of the roof deck.

The roof structure must be able to support the additional equipment, which is (relatively) easy to determine if it is a new building. If it is an existing building, maybe an engineer could make sure that the ducts etc will be OK.

Mechanical Code of NY State - 302.1 Structural safety. The building or structure shall not be weakened by the installation of mechanical systems. Where floors, walls, ceilings or any other portion of the building or structure are required to be altered or replaced in the process of installing or repairing any system, the building or structure shall be left in a safe structural condition in accordance with Sections 302.2 through 302.3.
