2006 IRC E3602.9.1 Ranges with a rating or 8.75 kVA or more shall be supplied by a ranch circuit having a minimum rating of 40 amperes.

E3605.4.4; The ampacity of Types NM... cable shall be at 60 degrees C conductors and shall comply with Section E3605.1 and Table E3605.5.3

Q-2) Answer; 8-3

8kVA is 8 * 1000 / 240 is 33 amps

I could not find in the IRC where Kilovolt-amperes (kVA) shall be considered equivalent to kilowatts (kW) for loads computed under this section. 2009 IRC anyone?
