Greetings all !

I am looking for the spacing dimensions of installing one piece,
non-adjustable, brick veneer wall ties in to some CMU's [ i.e.
- a Commercial application ], similar to Section R606.13.2.1,
in the `18 IRC........The applicable Code that I am using is the
`15 IBC.

Please provide the Code Section & dimensions.

Thank you !

You won't find it in the IBC. IRC provides a prescriptive path; however, the IBC will require engineering design per TMS 602 for masonry cladding.

2104.1 Masonry Construction
Masonry construction shall comply with the requirements of Sections 2104.1.1 and 2104.1.2 and with TMS 602/ACI 530.1/ASCE 6.

And...

2101.2 Design Methods
Masonry shall comply with the provisions of TMS 402/ACI 530/ASCE 5 or TMS 403 as well as applicable requirements of this chapter.

O.K, thank you for your input ! :)

Per chance does anyone know the dimensions.
I do not have "ready access" to the TMS or ASCE
Standards.

How can you enforce the provisions in the reference standards if you do not have a copy?

What do you do when the applicant asks to see the code provision requiring these ties?

Mark K,

Thank you for your input !..........In this particular situation,
a building will need repairs to a corner wall......A vehicle
ran in to the corner and damaged it.......The building is
owned by the military, and the military has asked me to
compose a repair project using cmu's & a brick veneer to
match the existing materials.......It is my intent to provide
as much details, Code requirements and other, to
restore the damaged corner wall.......I cannot cite chapter
& verse of the TMS or ASCE, which is why I came to this
Forum for assistance........If you can provide the dimensional
requirements for the brick ties; from the TMS or ASCE, I
will GREATLY appreciate it, and cite it in my "write up" for
the project.

Masonry anchors and ties are to be designed and installed based on the Building Code Requirements and Specification for Masonry Structures (TMS 402-11/ACI 530-11/ASCE 5-11). This article will examine code compliant anchors for both masonry walls and for brick veneers.

OK?
