Building Code Official Discretion

I think you folks in this forum have a role in this, even if it's not legally binding, it just might take a few emails and/or phone calls.
How is that?? You think that my authority reaches outside my city limits? You think we all get together and keep each other in check?

Does our local librarian have a responsibility to make sure your librarian is filing their books correctly?

This is a place to discuss code topics, more often than not we disagree on things, and we learn from it. I doubt any code officials here are going to pick up the phone to check on how someone's managing things a few states away. Sorry.

According to you, I guess not. But I know a lot of professions that do - doctors, lawyers, judges, engineers, etc. through their various associations to keep their credentials. That holds them to a higher standard that they themselves understand better than anyone else and I think the public benefits from that. But you're a staff member, Joe.B., delete my thread if it offends you.

He’s an inspector. Thick skinned like mule hide.

Doctors, lawyers, judges, engineers are notorious for staying in their own lane, especially doctors. We inspectors call each other out when the need presents itself. It has happened to me often enough. That’s one of the many reasons why I come here. There’s a Montana member that has nailed me a few times. In fact, he went so far as to tell me that I couldn’t work for him. Not that I wanted to but that’s next level critiquing don’t you think?

No, my response was of surprise, not offended.
