Building energy code compliance in the US

I am interested in understanding how often builders of commercial buildings in the United States opt for "performance path" vs. "prescriptive path" in order to comply with building energy codes like IECC 2015 and/or ASHRAE 90.1. Can someone please suggest where I can find this information?

I doubt if anybody has compiled the info - to have any kind of real numbers you'd have to survey plans turned in to every jurisdiction and then see which way they went, which would be a huge undertaking.

If it helps - 99.9% of the commercial plans I see are performance-based.

Thanks JCraver for your reply. However, most of the articles that I read suggest that prescriptive path is more common than performance. I understand that actual data isn't available for this parameter. I am only trying to get an intuitive estimate from surveys/studies that may have been conducted. If you are aware of any such sources kindly share it with me. It would be of great help.
