This cycle I am currently working on an infill load being added to the model codes, IRC & IBC, and are hoping to gain some feedback from for those of you here on the forum.

The proposals are
  • S80-25 IBC Section 1607.9
  • RB53-25 IRC Section Table R301.5
Besides the information in the monograph, we have a webpage with more detailed and up to date information, which will be being updated through the entire code cycle for these proposals.

Looking forward to your input - Tom

From your web site on guard infills: https://railingcodes.com/infill/

First paragraph under "Safe Cable Design Loads:

The tensioning, stiffness and resistance that a guard’s infill preforms to is directly related to the construction and materials, and with wire cable this is directly related to safe cable design loads. Per industry manufacture Loos & Co. Inc., 1/8-inch diameter, 1×19 type 316 stainless steel imported wire cable, lists the minimum break point at 1,780lbf on their website (01/07/2025).

"Preforms" means "forms before." This looks like a typo, and that you really mean "performs" to. If I am correct, such basic typographical errors reduce credibility of the overall presentation.

I don't like wire guards. Never have, never will.
