Certificate of occupancy and posting occupant load?

I issue a certificate of occupancy with the information required by section 110.1 and 110.2 but should I be providing a permanent occupant load sign (PAPER WITH CITY LOGO) for assemblies also? section 1004.3 requires the OL to be posted. Another AHJ near me list it's restaurants dining area without the items listed in section 110.

How do you do it?

We issue both, and through fire inspections require the OL is posted. (in areas 50 and over)

We give them a sign we create on MS Word in landscape format. All the signs are thereby consistant and better than the napkins I've seen in other places. We file them on the property file in the building department's program so when the Bureau of Alcohol does their annuals or requests it, we have them on file.

So am I correct that the requirements of section 110 do not have to be posted but the requirement of section 1004.3 for A-groups does?

Right now I have been issuing a CO with all the info required from section 110 plus adding an assembly occupant load to the same form to be permanently displayed.

We do not supply a sign. We figure up the occupant load and let the fire marshall enforce the posting of the sign.

This is what's on ours:

1. Permit number

2. Plan check number

3. Owner

4. Code edition year

5. Occup. group

6. Number of stories

7. Construction type

8. Sprinklered Y/N

9. Occup. load if applicable

10. Brief description of the building and what it's used for

11. Signature and date of Inspector and BO

It's up to the owner to provide occup. load sign at final inspection and FD to enforce.

When I hand them their sign, I say "here's your sign".

Actually, we require them to provide their own sign. If they don't have one posted at final that states the occupant load per the plans, it's a correction.

Also, even if the occupant load is 49, we still require it to be posted.
