Cheap trick brings down the house

Interesting. I wonder what wind load these are designed for (if any).

If there were deaths, there would be an inquisition. How can the building codes address this without whining?

4.2 Patio covers and wind standards

Wind standards and building codes of practice (with some notable exceptions) do not include

any pressure coefficient provisions for the design of patio covers. The only codes that explicitly

refer to patio covers are the International Building Code (IBC 2006) and the International

Residential Code (IRC 2006) but their provisions do not seem to arise from any detailed

study on these structures. The Australian Standard (AS/NZS 1170.2, 2002) also refers

to attached canopies, awnings and carports, which can be considered similar to patio cover

structures. The rest of the various national building codes refer rather implicitly to canopy

roofs or to open buildings.

Great Band and too bad that happened during their slot. Bad weather at open air venues is always a potential for disaster. Glad there were no serious injuries. Bun E. Carlos is one of the coolest drummers I ever saw. Will never forget Nielsen playing five Axes at the same time.

Many tents and temporary structures limit wind and snow load design by specifying evacuation at a certain wind level.

First saw them at the Florida World Music Festival at the T-Bowl in 1979. Ted was headlining, Aerosmith was 2nd on the bill - they were third. Ah the craziness of festival seating - or rather standing room only on the field.

That was right about the time Live @ Budokan was becoming the number one live album of all time - still a great CD.
