Does any one have a checklist for reviewing plans? I am looking for a checklist to help me with plan review. My county gets about 4-5 plans a year to review, so I get rusty. Looking for a checklist with sprinkler, alarms, smokes, egress, etc on it? I am from NC and use the ICC Fire Prevention Codes with NC Provisions. Any help will be good!

Where are you?

There is a reason they ask for a location.....

I suggest what one instructor told me

look through the plans at each page, if you see something that jumps out note it

than pick up whatever code book/standard that applies and go through each chapter

some chapters you can discount from the very first page as not applying

make your comments as you go

than go through the plans one more time after you sleep one night.

I know this is not a check list, but I hate check lists, because some people even trained professional gold star plan reviewers get lazy and miss stuff because they just look for stuff on the check list.

I have it in my head after 30 years of doing it. I do have the one I created back in another state and it is specific to a fire plan review (35 Areas of Concern) but it does not have code numbers in it because I got tired of changing them every three years. Some things you just have to cut and paste :-).

If you would like a copy, PM me with your email and I'll scan it and email it to you.
