Trapped again. i have to alter an existing door by adding a wide-throw continuous hinge to achieve a 180 degree opening. can I simply change the arm on my LCN 4040 XP closer to accommodate this. If so, which arm? My closer is 4041XP (push side)

Wait a day or two and you should have an answer

closer arm

I do not know what to say about the arm location. I have an EDA arm but since I also have an overhead stop I am guessing that the closer was templated for 110 degrees like the oh stop. make sense? The wide throw continuous hinge I am going to have to use looks like a ROTON 780-235, which will throw the door out 2-3/4" +/- at 180 degrees. So first, I need an arm.

And second I was asked if the door could stay open. I cried.

Hi Michael -

I talked to LCN about this. There is a special arm available (special template ST-2481) for use on a door with a 4041XP and wide-throw hinges. The wild card is the overhead stop. Your best bet is to call LCN Engineering and ask for Giles. The number is 877-671-7011 - option 2 for tech support, and option 4 for LCN.

I'm happy to keep working through it with you, but I think you'll get a faster answer if you cut out the middle-man.
