Communicating Doors Between Sleeping Rooms

If the door is open, there is still a one hour envelope around the two rooms
 
I would not, but more because the combined area of two hotel rooms (or suites for that matter) are still well below any threshold for area limitations in the Code.

Unlike my esteemed colleague above, I recognize that the bounding walls are likely fire partitions, not barriers, so the 'envelope' is not sealed very well.

And hotels 4 stories or less above grade probably have a 13R system, so concealed spaces may not be well protected.
