Compliance Calculators ICC

If we really need an on-line calculator to read Chapter 3 for us, I worry about the future of our species. We've already discussed in other threads the deterioration of competence among design professionals. This will only speed up the process. It will be one less thing they have to engage their brains to think about.

The link brought up the website Jar posted (on Chrome), but because I don't subscribe to ICC I couldn't access the calcs. Checked out the pricing on the ClearCalcs website (here) and they seem similar to other calc subscriptions (like StrucCalc).

It makes sense that AI will rule the engineering disciplines. Now if it can figure out how to kill all of the lawyers....

Beam calculator is a little over my head in a quick look, I will continue to use Forte......The Use thing is a joke...I can already hear the "ICC told me it was a B" arguments...

I know a guy who has absolutely no idea what he's doing and completely relies on copy/paste to complete project or the automation features in BIM programs. The second something isn't exactly like something from a previous project, dude just shuts down and fumbles about until someone notices the mess he's making. These calculators are something he may genuinely need...

And he's still more competent than some other design professionals I know.

I feel for those of you who have to review the crap we draw.
