Corridor Continuity CBC 1018.6- California

I posted this with part of another thread, but need some help to confirm please.

Table 1018.1 allows a corridor not to be rated if a B occupancy and with a sprinkler system. Can a corridor be non-rated if one means of egress goes through the elevator lobby that maintains it's one hour rating with 20 minute smoke doors (1A construction high-rise). Does passing through the elevator lobby for egress require that the 1 hour rating be continued or would the exception that says the "corridors may lead through enclosed elevator lobbies if all areas of the building have access to at least one required exit without passing through the elevator lobby".

My interpretation of this is that the corridor does not need to be rated just because it passes through a rated elevator lobby. My plan checker says it does.

Check calif chap 7 to see what it says

4. Enclosed elevator lobbies are not required where the building is protected by an automatic sprinkler system installed in accordance with Section 903.3.1.1 or 903.3.1.2. This exception shall not apply to the following:

4.1. Group I-2 occupancies;

4.2. Group I-3 occupancies; and

4.3. High-rise buildings.

Hi CDA, I did see your post in the other thread and it is a high-rise.

so unless california has admended that section, it seems the lobbies are required

Elevator lobby separation also required by Section 708.14.1.

I guess I'm not being clear, the lobby construction isn't an issue, nor is 708.14.1 per Mark. My issue is more fundamental. A multi-tenant floor in a high-rise has a S or Z corridor. Therefore a tenant to access both exits for two stairs at opposite ends of the building must go through the elevator lobby to access the 2nd exit. The question is can we eliminate the rated corridors if we maintain the elevator lobby per 708.1.4? In other words, can we travel from a non-rated corridor through the elevator lobby and then back to the non-rated corridor as we comply with 1018.1. The building official states once we enter a more highly rated area that rating must be maintained until we discharge. I understand this for exit and exit discharge, however I think the point of the elevator lobby is different than the rating of the corridors. They are all part of a bigger system yes, but elevator lobbies are rated to deal with the vertical shaft, not the corridor. I hope this explains my position better
