No sprinklers

Restaurant A-2 with passageway / hallway providing a path of travel to the restrooms, a private office, and the second required exit. Occupant load is greater than 30. If the passageway / hallway wall stops two or three feet from the ceiling, must it be considered a corridor and be fire rated? There are no dead ends.

1018.1 Construction. Corridors shall be fire-resistance rated in accordance with Table 1018.1. The corridor walls required to be fire-resistance rated shall comply with Section 709 for fire partitions.

Table 1018.1 requires a one-hour corridor rating for occupant loads greater than 30 in Assembly occupancies without sprinklers.

Thanks in advance.

CORRIDOR. An enclosed exit access component that defines and provides a path of egress travel to an exit .

So what do you consider as "enclosed"?

I'd say a passageway / hallway with walls that extend from the floor to the ceiling.

How long is itAnd is there a door across from the dining area?
The passageway is about one hundred feet long. There is no door separating the eating area from the rest of the building.

The building space is long (greater than 150 ft) and narrow (about 18 ft.)

The kitchen occupies the 14 ft x 100 ft space on the other side of the passageway / hallway wall.

I used to call that set up a corridor

Now my answer to your set up ,,, is no it is not a corridor
