In a corridor of an office building (B-Occupancy), the corridor width minimum requirement by code is 44-inches (Table 1018.2). Based on occupancy the calculated width of the corridor needs to be at least 39-inches. Therefore a 44-inch minimum width is acceptable. The ACTUAl corridor width is 60-inches. Along one side of the corridor the pilasters around the structural columns are 5-1/2-inches in depth. Thereby reducing the actual egress width down to 54-1/2-inches. This is still wider than the minimum requirement of 44-inches. Does the 2012 IBC, Sec. 1003.3.3 make this corridor non-compliant because the pilaster exceeds 4-inches?

"1003.3.3 Horizontal Projections

Structural elements, fixtures or furnishings shall not project horizontally from either side more than 4 inches (102 mm) over any walking surface between the heights of 27 inches (686 mm) and 80 inches (2032 mm) above the walking surface."

Agree with the steveray,
10003.3.4 Clear width indicates MINIMUM clear width of accessible routes. You indicated you were compliant with 39-inches, and you actually have 54.5.

IMO you meet the code requirements if you also meet 1003.3.3

Also did you check door swings into the corridor?

Yes. There are none.

I am not sure why the flag, but based on your description this would be no different than if each one of those recesses between pilasters where setback door entries into rooms.

Protruding objects are only things that are lower than 80 inches and don't continue towards the floor and reach a height below 27" to the walking surface.

Does not matter how far they stick out into the corridor or room, as long as, the accessible route is large enough and it complies with 1003.3.3 Hence the 27-80 rule area.

Based on your info, your good to go baring anything else not mentioned.
