They needed to put up a direction sign at an inaccessible entrance on an existing building (firehouse) where interior alterations where done. (2009 IBC 1110.2) They put a sign up on the left side (latch side) of the inaccessible door with the accessibility symbol that says accessible entrance with an arrow pointing towards the accessible entrance which is on the right about 50 feet away. Since signs at doors need to be on the latch side it looks like the arrow is pointing to the inaccessible door that it is posted by. If I knew how to post a photo you would understand. Not sure if or how to change it this sign.

Does not need to be "blue"

Signs should not be at the door.

ICC A117.1-2009:703.3.10 sign lettering 48" to 60" above floor

703.3.11 signs must be on latch side of door
Different sign.

Directional signs are not door signs.

Not all signs are the same

Rick,

ANSI A117.1-2009; 703.2.9: Visual chacters need to be 40" minimum above the floor. Table 703.2.4 will tell you the character height (5/8" minimum)
