Disabled woman alleges Walgreens violates ADA

http://louisianarecord.com/stories/510648465-disabled-woman-alleges-walgreens-violates-ada-standards

A Covington woman is suing Walgreens, alleging lack of handicap access to a building under the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Yadi Mark of Covington, filed a lawsuit Nov. 13 in U.S. District Court Eastern District of Louisiana against Covington Development and Walgreen Louisiana Co Inc.

Mark, who is paraplegic, uses a wheelchair for mobility. The suit says she says she continues to encounter structural barriers to her access to the Walgreens at 1203 Highway 190, Covington. The lawsuit states the plaintiff must deal with an excessively steep curb ramp from the accessible-designated parking spaces, inadequate clear floor space to the doorway of the restroom and inadequate clear floor space underneath the self-service photograph work stations.

Mark asks the court to declare the property in violation of the ADA, order Walgreens

to alter the property to bring it up to code, and award attorney fees and court costs, as well as other relief it deems proper. She is represented by attorneys Andrew D. Bizer, Garret S. DeReus and Amanda K. Klevorn of The Bizer Law Firm of New Orleans.

U.S. District Court Eastern District of Louisiana case number 2:15-cv-05890-ILRL-JCW.
