Flashing 101!

All they are missing is to lay the tube of caulk on top of the flashing and caulk around it!! i don't see anything wrong with it! :(
 
I think it already has. Look at the water stains on the plywood behind the flashing......I mean the useless aluminum.
 
It's counter flashing. Counter to any kind of flashing I've ever seen. If they'd just made it continuous, they could have used it as a route for condensate overflow and saved some pvc, all the while protecting the inside of the sheathing from water damage from... the attic.
