Egress through an overhead garage door

CBC 1010.1.2 exception #1 states that an egress door from a private garage, factory, or storage area with an occupant load of 10 or less does not need to be a hinged swinging door.

OK, so it doesn't need to be a swinging door, so can it be anything? How about the overhead garage door in this fictitious "garage" with less than 10 occupants? This is how storage units can have only an overhead door, right?

You'd think - but it has to meet the opening force requirement. Well 1010.1.3 only gives allowable forces for swinging doors. 1010.1.4 addresses "special doors" but only mentions revolving doors. 1010.1.4.3 gives requirements for horizontal sliding, accordion, and folding doors.

Still no mention of an overhead door. Are there no requirements for opening force for an overhead door? I could probably meet the the requirements of 11B-309 with a pull cord but does that constitute "special knowledge"?

I'm sure the storage building industry has cracked this nut but I'm wondering what pitfalls there are when using a coiling overhead door as an egress door. Anyone have experience with this?

Thanks

If the code is not specific than

So seems like could be sliding door, chain open door, etc

If it is the only door, unless in Alaska or Death Valley, Door will more than likely be open most of the time.
