Local business with elevator that does not work with the recall switch. Since my city is cheap and cannot afford the actual standard, can someone advise what the section number is the requires the recall switch and properly maintained. Thanks

Don't know if this helps,

This is taken from the NYS Version (Prop Maint Code).

606.1 General. Elevators, dumbwaiters and escalators shall be maintained to sustain safely all imposed loads, to operate properly, and to be free from physical and fire hazards. The most current certificate of inspection shall be on display at all times within the elevator or attached to the escalator or dumbwaiter; or the certificate shall be available for public inspection in the office of the building operator.

You could make the point that if recall doesn't work, it's not operating properly, no?

IFC 607.1 if the travel (I assume vertical travel) is more than 25' above or below the main floor AND the elvator is intended to serve the needs of emergency personnel.

ASME A17.1 will have more requirements.. invest in it.

thanks... but since ASME A17.1 is a copywrited document, you still need the source document. A great reference page, Paul
