Equipment Platform

I have a project where the mechanical equipment will be on the exterior of the second floor over one of the means of egress. Other than IBC 505.3.2 requiring an automatic sprinkler above and below the equipement platform, does anyone know of any other codes or requirements that would prevent this. Thanks,

If it’s on the exterior, why does it need a sprinkler? Is it an enclosed mechanical room, or an open platform?

IBC 505.3.2 says where located "in" a building. In my vocabulary, exterior is not "in."

I agree that exterior not required guard rails , etc. required.

Its currently an open platform. However when we have a design review meeting, I think they will want it enclosed or hidden from view somehow.
