Under topic's listing!!!

Anyone think could start new topic listing referring to "Existing Residential Building Codes"

Things seem to get fuzzy under the the ICC:confused:

Welcome to the forum and thank you for posting.

"Residential Existing Building Codes" may be a good idea, we will have to see what the body of the forum thinks. In the past we have created these specialized categories by request and they ended up being duds. The "Institutional" category was started by request and 7 months later we have 4 topics. Sort of a waste if you ask me. There is a category for every residential code and it can always be explained in the post whether or not the situation is existing building or new.

I personally issue more residential permits for existing buildings than new so I can see the need but let everyone else discuss this.

I am also moving this to the website area as this is not the best place to post this question.

OK, Thank You!!!

O, and I can come up with a few post's right off the bat...LOL

Thanks again for having me!!

IRC covers the

construction, alteration, enlargement, replacement, repair, equipment, use and occupancy ....as far as existing

goes thats 5/6ths existing by scope which is probably 3 of 5 permits for exisiting.

The article most applicants and builders don't know about (even some officials) is

Appendix J EXISTING BUILDINGS AND STRUCTURES

a moderatly useful tool if included in scope adoption by the powers that be.

I regullarly refer applicants to it as a method of compliance not avoidance

so I don't think we need another sub file to search I prefer looking in less places for more

Yeah, I think we have it covered under any of the existing IRC forums...........welcome peabody.
