Exit signs and egress lighting

I don't see why stairways shouldn't be included if they have enough natural light. Photosensors need to be positioned to sense the darkest part of the stairway. One of the colleges I used to work with had glass exterior walls on all staircases on new buildings.

And max apart allowed for the sensors???
 
Now do you get it? Even if daylit, clouds and weather my reduce natural illumination.
Direction to exits, whether within the space or a corridor must remain illuminated at all times.
 
This glass enclosure probably has several hundred footcandles illumination during the day. I wouldn't want to be in the same county as a storm that would reduce it below the 1 footcandle required by IBC 1008.2.1. There are LED lights that come on between dusk and dawn, and if the light level drops below 10 FC.
