exit width measurement

Re: exit width measurement

I read 1008.1 literally. Measurement is from face of door to stop. You can not measure from face to stop if the face of the door is not at least parallel to the stop.

ps: I didn't mean to agree in my previous post that I agreed with more than 90 degrees. I was agreeing with the "shall" part of that post.

My question is, "why would you reject a door on 1008.1.1 just because it only opened 89 degrees when it provides the egress width?"

Or to put it another way, would you reject a 42" wide door under 1008.1 that only opened 89 degrees?

If so, where is the hazard?
