We are having a discussion on how high above the module surface that a plumbing vent must be extended to provide proper venting. We are in California, so we are on the CPC (revamped version of UPC). Section 906.0 of the 2010 CPC requires vents to extend to a minimum of 6" above the roof surface. Some feel that this number should remain at 6" above ANY surface (on a sloped roof) to match the required height above the roof, but others feel that a minimal distance (2" has been proposed) above the modules.
I just wanted to hear more input on this. I am leaning toward the 6" side, but I also see the desire for 2" above the modules (someone brought up shading......come on....really? a 2" vent?).
What do you do in your area?
Thanks,
Wayne
