Gosh, that's news to me, I've heard the word but thought it was "Shmoo", I remember there were Shmoos in the Lil' Abner comic strip so I looked it up, I see a Shmoo is quite different than a Smurf.

Shmoos were really entertaining to the Hillbillies in the days before political correctness, so it was the Smurfs that brought us socialism and the ADA?
