V-A construction type A-3 occupancy
Because it is heavy timber a one-hour is assumed by code. The question is the lower steel rod holding the truss in tension, does it need to be protected? I am thinking yes with an intumesenct paint as a possible solutions.
Thought please

I am thinking it falls under Primary Structural

I agree it would fall under the Primary Structural.

Are you thinking that the same product that you can coat the timbers and the fletch plate with would also work on the steel rod, intumesenct paint also comes in a clear product. I think?
