Greetings all !
I have a project requiring a 2 hr. fire rated
partition...….The plan is to install 2 layers of
5/8" Type X gyp. board, in "staggered joint
layers" on each side of the metal framing.
A question \ desire to use Moisture Resistant
Gyp. Board as part of the partition assembly
has been submitted.
Q1): Is there a fire rated, moisture resistant
gyp. board product out there ?
Q2): If there is not a fire rated, moisture
resistant gyp. board out in the market, what
would be the recommend [ i.e. - hopefully Code
compliant ] method to attain a 2 hr. fire rated
partition with moisture resistant gyp. as part of
the overall partition assembly ?
Q3): As a possibility, could 2 "staggered layers"
of 5/8", moisture resistant gyp. board be installed,
and then apply a 2 hr. fire rated ceramic based
paint on both sides of the partition ?
Thanks for your input !
