Fire Separation-Lg Assembly

Hi all,

Is a room used for assembly purposes (over 750 SF) that is associated with a Group B occupancy considered a separate occupancy?
I'm aware of smaller rooms being accessories, but this one will turn out to be larger.
Early design stages and someone posed the question, but this is something I don't do every day.
The question is not related to Egress, but Fire separation.
The Assembly will be more than 10% of the building -automatic sprinkler system.
I realize there are a lot of variables, but just looking for the simplest answer so that I can start heading in the right direction.

My first thought is YES.
Any other opinions?~TIA

How big is the main occupancy, is it less than 10% of the main building? What is the assembly purpose? At 15 sf per person the occupant load is 50 people, section 303.1.1 spaces used for assembly purposes with an occupant load of less then 50 shall be classified as a B use group.

Over 50 ppl/750 SF, so definitely doesn't qualify for accessory. More than 10%. Multipurpose room. Can be conference or training. 15SF net. The balance will be professional/business offices

Yes, separate occupancy group. OL certificate should state that.

If your building type of construction would allow your most restrictive occupancy, the "A3" an allowable area that is larger than the entire floor plate that the occupancy is on then there is no separation of occupancies is required.
