We have a 1 hour fire barrier separating two occupancies with a couple offsets that cause perpendicular penetration of wood trusses through the fire barrier in the attic. we typically have received approval to fire caulk the penetration similar to a pipe or conduit, but there is no tested assembly. The building official is asking for a design reference or supporting information to show this approach is acceptable. Is anyone aware of an interpretation or commentary reelevant to this issue.

Thanks.

ask your fire stop supplier unless it is home depot

or call the number on the tube for tech help
