I am accustomed to seeing floor drains in commercial kitchens run thru the grease trap. I have a job where the engineer is insisting that it should not.

Does anyone have a reasonable list of what fixtures should always be required to discharge thru the grease trap?

All floor drains in the Kitchen areas are required to go thru the grease

interceptor ( see Section 1003.3.1 in the 2006 IPC).

Your engineer is wrong!

Agree with GT, ask the engineer what is going to happen when the cooks helper drops the jug of oil and it splits open, what is keeping it out of the san. sewer?
