When I saw the story about the floating hotels for the Gulf clean-up workers it reminded me of the sea containers used by human smugglers. But these floating hotels have to meet the stringent requirements of the Coast Guard. And besides the entire situation is under the direct control of the current administration.

I saw that they were proposed to be used for jails a long time ago, guess that never got off the sea

It appears that the stairs have been added onto by welding on additional sections, but they forgot the handrails. Notice the guy carrying the big box up the stairs? I guess he is ok as long as he doesn't trip during the first few risers.

Memories of my Master's Thesis - comparing the IBC and SOLAS (Safety of Life at Sea). Ferries, cruise ships, riverboat casinos...there are some similarities, and there certainly are differences, in how the IMO addresses vessels versus similar uses addressed by the ICC in a building.

If you fall on the first few steps it's not that far to the water below. :D

I've been offshore back in the 80's. They are not very plush. In fact spartan would be very generious when discussing the accommodations.

Army uses them for housing... lots of places..

put sprinklers in them.. you'll be ok..

Just wait until some developer wants to place them in a residential district and challenge your zoning. Maybe I will put my developers hat on again and bust some stones! Those were the days!

How come Martin get a twin? Is he a big shot?

How about Camping Cabins? Or put wheels on them and call them RV's. Do they have to comply with HUD for mobile homes?
