Although this is only a 120/208 3phase system (1,600A) it does have a GFI built into the main OCPD. We still require the engineer to spec out the GFI settings and go through the testing procedure because it is installed although it is not required to be installed. Does anyone else do the same?

No. When GFPE protection is installed by design & NOT by requirement (Section 230.95), no special consdieration is made to the GFPE device other than installation & use per the installation instructions.

Please be aware that GFCI & GFPE are NOT the same animal. See the definitions in Article 100...
