GIS Services and Integration

To have permit software that would automatically flag wetlands and historic and flood and all kinds of other stuff would be awesome...Or click on a parcel and seamlessly take you to applying for a permit and things like that...Again...getting the municipality to invest...

How many of you utilize GIS services and or integrate it into your building department software?
We have a pretty robust GIS system for inhouse use, looking up owners, seeing topos, utilities, easements, etc. - it doesn't help much in field for inspectors. It also doen't link to our approval software.

Do you have County tax assessment information available like this? We can search any property we want.

The full myGeoNav app is one of the best I've ever used: https://maps.co.palm-beach.fl.us/mygeonav/

In addition to flood zones there's a bunch of other layers that can be turned off and on (historical aerials, schools, transportation, etc.). And in the unincorporated areas you can look up zoning info, control numbers, building permits, etc. in just a few clicks, vs spending all day waiting to meet with to the on-call planner, or waiting weeks for someone to respond.

Our GIS system is great, and we do have it somewhat integrated with our property maintenance side, they can type in an address and it auto fills lot numbers, owners names, etc.

Our IT guy actually set up our permitting software to bring in property owner information and create a pop up warning if located in a flood zone. In the past 12 years, I think it only errored 1 time. He also grips every time I ask for a revision or update on the form functions. That is what he gets paid for. The programming was all done in-house so cost was minimal.
