Glazing Hazardous location - what year?

Can someone tell me what year the code started requiring glazing in hazardous locations to be safety type?

e.g. Windows near landing, steps, tub/shwr, doors etc.
 
Thanks mjesse - To what extent does it require safety glazing compared to today?
 
Comparable.

Newer sections to the hazardous locations include stairways, landings, and ramps.

The '89 allows for the edge nearest a swinging door as 12", compared to today's 24"
 
Some general information may help to narrow down the time line;

"Building codes were silent on the subject of safety glazing until the 1960’s"




"From 1968 to 1973, the Glazing Industry Code Committee attempted to lobby states directly for adoption of this standard as part of state building codes for glazing in hazardous locations"

"When safety glazing codes were first developed, there were three major code-making organizations, ICBO, BOCA, and SBCCI. ICBO’s Uniform Building Code 1961 edition was the first to require safety glazing for shower doors."

The Consumer Products Safety Commission published a standard effective July 6, 1977 that preempted state or local codes that weren't identical.
