This is in a closet that used to house a furnace. I usually open such a j-box by removing the one screw and loosening the other. Then rotate the cover and look inside. I rotated this one just a small amount and the wire popped out.

When will the legislators wake up and realize that the only people that we can trust to perform electrical work are journeymen electricians?



What else do the sharp eyes see?

A related question (trying not to hijack - it really is related) - should we as inspectors be turning screws and removing covers?

Well the short answer is no. I have been removing deadfront covers from residential panelboards for years. Recently the admin. decided that we can't do that. Apparently a bunch of new hires aren't capable, so nobody is allowed to open anything. Well I am a big nobody around here so I am the only one that is allowed to open anything.
