I’m in the midst of a little project renovating a conference room on the 12th floor of my Type II sprinklered office building, classified as Use and Occupancy B. I’m considering the installation of expanded vinyl wall coverings. Now, I’m quite certain there are specific fire performance and testing requirements for such materials according to the International Building Code. Could you confirm if this is indeed the case? If so, please enlighten me on the exact requirements.

IBC section 803.

803.7 Expanded vinyl wall coverings. Where used as interior
wall finish materials, expanded vinyl wall coverings shall be
tested in the manner intended for use, using the productmounting
system, including adhesive, and shall comply with
the requirements of one of the following: Section 803.1.1,
803.5.1 or 803.5.2.

For a conference room in a B occupancy, wall finishes must be Class C for flame spread and smoke developed.
