Homeowner question about a sump pump

Homeowner: "What is this hole in my basement with water in it and PCV coming out of it?"

Me: "That's a sump pump Maam." After explaining how it works and what it's for, this is the question I got.

Homeowner: "Can I put Goldfish in it?"

Me: "I wouldn't recommend it."

I don't know how I held a straight face. But I sure started laughing when I hung up the phone.
 
sometimes you gotta wonder how they manage to breathe without illustrated instructions... *sheesh*
