Where would I find language in the code (ICC or NFPA) to allow horizontal separation of use and occupancy by floor?
Is Table 508.4 Required Separation of Occupancies for both vertical separation and horizontal separation?
e.g. first floor assembly occupancy, second floor business, and third floor business

Welcome

Which code book and year edition?

Do you mind saying are you in design, code, or ??

See if 711 IBC 2015 helps you, plus you will get some other answers in a day or so

I am using the 2017 Florida Building Code and my question is for design purposes.
I will check out Section 711.
Thanks!

Start with 508.4, but there may be other "special " Stuff in Ch 4 or 7....Such as "R" separations from unit to unit and the like...Depends on what your actual uses are...if it is A/B/B you may not need any....
