Hot water tank indirect drain

Hello,
With respect to the Ontario Building Code (2012) in Canada, Clause 7.4.2.1 requires that "a drain or overflow from a water system or a heating system, or" be indirectly connected to the sanitary system. This particular installation (doesn't meet the pressure relief valve clause), but also doesn't have the drain pan indirectly connected to the sanitary system. The Contractor is suggesting to install a condensate pump in the drain pan, and have that pump to the nearby washing machine box as an indirect connection. Does anyone know if that would meet code per the OBC? I believe that the drain pan would need to be indirectly connected, and that a floor drain should have been installed.
Thoughts,
Thanks in advance,
-Dan

Well, essentially the contractor proposed that the drain pan would be replaced with a bigger one, the condensate pump would sit inside, and the discharge would be drained indirectly to the nearby washing machine box. No indication of whether or not the condensate pump would be able to keep up with the HWT draining, and I believe it is the drain pan that should be indirectly connected, and not the condensate pump.... just trying to confirm this through the OBC.

Both of the methods described would meet the definition in the OBC for "indirectly connected". It would be between yourself and the contractor which option is chosen.

What's the plan for draining the T&P? You wouldn't think that you'd have to tell them that it won't work like that.

"the contractor proposed that the drain pan would be replaced with a bigger one, the condensate pump would sit inside"
If they do that, please provide a picture.
