Group B, "pick-up / to-go" only food establishment. No tables for customer dining.

The space is 15'x65' with no interior walls or partitions. The architect's layout shows a unisex restroom opening into the rear of the space across from a 3 compartment sink. There is a shelf unit a few feet from the restroom door, and a food prep table about 6 feet away.

How can I revise the plans so that the plumbed toilet room does not open into the food prep area? Do I show a short hallway with one or two bends so that the food prep area cannot be seen from the toilet room door?

Thanks.

1210.5 Toilet rooms. Toilet rooms shall not open directly into a room used for the preparation of food for service to the public.

Mech,

Depending upon if your AHJ requires an RDP to submit plans [ based on the

Occupancy Group or Occ. Load ], requiring an architect would not be the

cost effective method to chose.

As "fatboy" has recommended, a small vestibule / hallway could be

constructed with a separate door......We have had this very scenario come

up in our jurisdiction......We suggested to the owner what needed to be

done to become compliant......They decided to go in another direction

and start whining and complaining about costs, ...and how it would be

a financial hardship, and on and on and on......The "powers that be"

capitulated and didn't require anything.

The point is, that hiring an RDP may or may not solve your problem.

I would recommend that you do as exactly as you have already done,

...come here and ask your questions for free.
