Trying to determine if I can have an inswing door into a Type A restroom. I understand the clear floor space requirements but not following the exception. What I think the code is getting at is that if the person in the wheel chair can enter the bathroom with the door swinging in and can get out of the way of the door swing then close the door and have access to the clear floor space requirements at a particular fixture, then you can have the door swing in.
What I'm not following is why they would be giving this as an exception since in my mind this would always be the case. UNLESS they are talking about the 5/0 radius being beyond the door swing- which technically is not a "clear floor space" in my way of thinking about it.
Anyway, curious as to everyone's interpretation of the exception.

This image below is an example from the commentary showing an inswing door with the door swing overlapping the turning space. They show seven examples and six of them have an inswing door overlapping the turning circle.

Thanks Jay. Was just typing that I might have figured it out.... My mistake. Was getting clear floor space vs maneuvering clearances terminology mixed up.
My understanding now (as your illustration indicates.... the rectangle beyond the door swing) would be that a 30x52 clear floor space would need to be beyond the door swing. I need to look into the commentary. Thanks for pointing it out to me.

The clear floor space only needs to be 30 by 48 inches if you are under the 2009 edition of ANSI A117.1.
