IIB Finishout inside IB Multi-Story building

For permitting an interior finish-out, I typically call out for IIB construction for a metal stud finish-out. In this case, the finish out is inside an IB 7 Story Building. The AHJ called out that my permit describes the building as IB but my code information sheet says IIB. I said IIB represents the construction type for the project, not the building.

Does this make sense?

The AHJ is correct. Once a building is classified by construction type, all construction within that building must conform to that construction type.

Or, forever after, be classified as a I-B.....Might raise hell on existing occupancies.
