We have been experiencing a rash of million square foot warehouses, the contractor has requested a mid am and mid pm inspections daily for the next month, in addition UG Plumbing inspections have been requested for mid am and mid pm for a 3 week duration. We are going to accommodate this request, fortunately most of our offices inspectors are multi certified. I'm looking to hear from others if they accommodate this type of request.

Time them to the arrival of the roach coach. You will be running into corrections that need you first thing in the morning so they can place concrete yet they want you there a few more times that day.

Give them an inch and they expect a mile but if they can get enough work done to warrant two inspections per day.....I would imagine that the permits and plan check fees are up there.

Make sure that they have a golf cart on the slab and a tote goat on the roof....keep a sharp eye out for skylights.

Looking to hire more inspectors? Be happy there is that much work in your jurisdiction and that they are giving you advance notice.

If they are following your normal inspection request procedure and the inspections are legigimate, and not come look at this room only and come back in pm and look at the room next to it

Seems like they are following your guidelines and need to allow it.

We agreed to this on conditions, one being exactly that, no am pre inspection for a pm pour...

The coordination into this job is refreshing, at least at the moment. They do cart us in a gator, was looking for red carpet but....

Our permit fees are less than neighboring or at most in a handful of scenarios equal. Frankly when it comes to reinspections we do not try to charge every time, it's about compliance not a money making machine. If there is a reasonable attempt for compliance and we have the ability to combine a reinspection with an upcoming inspection we do so.

We do it all the time for wall bond beam pours. We are here to serve and as cda stated as long as we are not doing a little portion here and there or creating a punch list then we will be there whenever scheduled. The key is to assist the contractor on keeping the job moving and the men working. Sometimes contractors will load a job up with extra crews so they are not sending them home for a couple of days or a week. Maybe they are trying to beat the weather moving in or a deadline they have to meet. Whatever there is no reason for an inspection department to delay inspections. You need to make it work for the contractor.

Why do you care if it is that pm or the next day. We ask when will you be ready and when do you plan on pouring and we give them a time that fits when we might be in the area. My guys are pretty flexible we have done inspections at 6:00 am for concrete pours or fire alarm test. We have also done them at 11:00 pm where a store remodel may be taking place and the work needs to be covered before the next morning.

I agree with lucky #7.....Well that 11:00pm gig is a little tough....something needs to be on fire to get me out there after 8:30.

Agreed. I just had a new school that wanted me there every day at 2:30 for pre-pour inspections for the foundation, which lasted about a month.

Mtlogcabin, agreed we do what it takes but we have dealt with many contractors who do not understand the inspector is there to approve the construction not to do there GC's work.

As the others on the forum we have and continue to have very late or early inspections for alarms, pours, etc....

Our inspection scheduling typically is am or pm unless particulars of the job necessitate.

We have gone as far a having an onsite job shack and full time inspector on a State prison project. It really cut down on travel time and kept the project moving. Definitely worth considering if you will have someone there 6 out of 8 hours a day anyway.
