I am not sure this is an approved lath. It is light gage with 1" openings as opposed to thicker wire with 1 1/2" openings. So there is more or less wire. It looks like it would be used on a hampster cage but not lath. Home Depot sells it as lath and the contractor claims there is an ES#. This is over plywood and as you can see {unless you are a guest. Yes I am an :butt Come back in a week and you'll be able to see it} the lath is furred at the studs and stapled tight in the middle. Other than that, he did a swell job.

At first I thought it was poultry netting, thanks pete_t for the es report comfirming it appears to be an actual stucco netting (lath).

Please keep it on the west coast!

Wow, I haven't seen that stuff around since the 80's. I agree with kevin, I think it was used with the thick three coat systems. Not sure how it would work with one brown, one finish like most folks use today.

I don't think a hampster can get through it now!

Does it meet the ES report for installation now? Looked better in the first photo!

2 layers?Makes it fixed?
My op was wrong in that the staples are at the studs and the furring nails are in the middle. In as much as I questioned the wire as being lath and the fact that there was little if any furring, I went along with another layer of wire furred and attached at the studs. Upon inspection I noted that the new lath had furring nails at the studs but they were too far apart so I required more nails and approved the work.
